5 Common Gay Dad Myths

Prejudices in society run deep against gay dads, leading to a lot of misconceptions and false expectations. If you are gay, you may believe in or be a victim of the following myths:

Myth 1: Gay men can't be good fathers.

Fact: Gay men can be as good parents as hetero men.

Being a great dad has nothing to do with your sexuality. Parenting is about nurturing, caring, guiding your children, and being there for them when they need you.

Myth 2: Gay dads can't love their wives.

Fact: Gay dads often do love their wives and can be caring husbands.

Most people assume that a guy with kids and a wife is straight. However, this is not true. Many gay dads take a lot of time to "come out." In fact, it's possible for someone to have a completely satisfying emotional relationship with a woman and still lust for other men. However, for many gay dads, but not all, a heterosexual relationship - sexually and emotionally - is not the same or as satisfying as one with a homosexual relationship.

Myth 3: Gay dads will have gay children.

Fact: Homosexuality is not proven to be genetic.

If you are gay dads, chances that your children will be gay are no more than if you were straight.

Myth 4: Gay dads should not "come out" and tell their children.

Fact: If you don't, someone else will.

When your children are at the right age, it is fine to confide in them about your sexuality. But that does not mean describing your sex life. If you are open about your sexuality with your children, it will help them come to terms with their sexuality and learn to accept homosexuality. Help them understand that there are different kinds of families and people.

Myth 5: Dads who discover that they are gay should divorce their wives.

Fact: The decision to go for a divorce is not universal.

If you have told your wife that you are gay, it does not mean that you should seek a divorce. It is possible to stay together without having sex. Ultimately, the decision to seek a divorce depends on what works best for you, your partner, and your kids.

  1. IMO Being "gay" is the result of either abuse or brainwashing from culture and is no different than many other mental illnesses. Of course it's not genetic - it is a choice and a lifestyle. The only difference is that they are forcing everyone by law to treat them like they are normal.
    When I see a homosexual with a kid I have the same mental reaction as seeing a pedophile or any other deviant with a child. It's sickening and wrong.

  2. Touche'Dugg! You hit the nail on the head. Homosexuals have forced this perverse lifestyle down the throats of heterosexuals. Their gay friendly courts are trying to legislate from the bench that heterosexuals accept this dysfunctional lifestyle, "Because It Is The Law." As a scientist, I can tell you, there isn't a scintilla of proof that says "All Gay People Were Born That Way." This is one big lie. If we follow their argument, then Lindsay Lohan, who is now dating a Dyke, "Was Born Gay." No, as you state, being gay "Is A Choice." By the way, this sickness flies in the face of all that is holy and all that is logical. Witnessing two men, "Getting Married, And Tongue Kissing, Is Perhaps One Of The Most Disgusting Things You Will Witness." Yet, these people think that this is Normal." The homosexuals in California shouldn't get too comfortable. The good people of that state will rescind that sick order the California Supremes in November. Americans had better start standing up and stopping this type of perversity. Otherwise, these wackos will say it is their right to marry their "Dogs, Or Cats."

  5. No question. I can stomach watching two chicks kissing, rather than two muscle bound men. Proponents of this perversity will never gain nationwide acceptance of this sickness. And that my friend, is what it is. Homosexuality is a "Mental Disorder." I dare anyone to dispute that. Once you have performed a psychological evaluation on these people, you will discover the causation for their sickness. You don't reward this sickness by sactioning it. You reach out and give these people , the ones who want help,all of the help that is available. But you damn sure don't legalize it. California has awaken a sleeping giant, "The American People."

  7. I think Aza just nailed it. That is the end game. THEY want EVERYTHING & ANYTHING goes. If it feels good - do it. Cos THEY're satanists. Even though the average homosexual isn't - the people at the top who make it an issue are. That's why 2% are gay but 98% of media seems to portray or include gay characters. THEY are going to push the anti-family, anti-Christian agenda down everyones throats until it is excepted as normal and good. Seems like I see a crossdresser every time the tv comes on (down to Shrek). Guess THEY're trying to make that normal, too.
    There is one thing I'm sure of - things work incrementally.

    Just look at music for example. You went from Elvis (who made some gospel albums)to openly satanist bands like Mercyful Fate and Celtic Frost in less than 25 years. But if Celtic Frost or Marylin Manson had come out first in 1955 - people would have been outraged and probably burned them alive. Today nobody thinks twice.

    After several generations have grown up with gay marriage and gay fathers and gay "normalcy" - some joker will make an issue of pedephilia being a normal genetic behaviour. Or maybe he has the right to marry his pet dog or whatever.
    Whackjobs.
